Signing up for raids, how does it work?

Post  Poutoute on Thu Sep 18, 2008 10:37 am

Here is a reminder of some basic facts to make sure everyone is aware of the way raid leaders deal with sign ups and decide on group set ups.

1- The signups are here for planification, to let the raid leader know what class he can expect to attend, what class will be missing, and thus quickly decide if the raid will be viable or not. Nobody likes waiting 2 hours at the kin house waiting for a minstrel to log in, with signups, the raid leader can quickly abort an event if the needed people are not available for the schedduled time.

2- When there are not enough sign ups : the raid leaders will quickly check the ingame kin panel to see who is online, and will send tell to people to see if they want to help. The choice of who shall be contacted first is made by the officer and is mainly based on class and sometimes experience or current equipment (for example for first rift bosses, we look for people who don't have the boots already)

3-When there are too many signups : the raid leader will ask some people to let their spots for others. Here s how the raid leaders choose who to ask this :

3.1 - We first check the viability of the raid, so first choice is made accroding to classes. (example : we rarely go to the rift with 6 hunters)

3.2 - We try to make a fair turnover between people, i.e. if you were asked to let your spot last raid you will most prolly have a reserved seat for next raid. Our goal here is to share the fun between as much people as possible. It also enable people to rest, and to do other things than raiding 5 evening each week

3.3 - This choice is never made according to the sign up order. It's not because player A signed 2 hours before you that you won't have a spot.

3.4 - Usually, in the case of continuing raids, no priority is given to people who attended the previous raid The fact you have not been taken for boss 1-4 in the rift, doesn't mean you won't be able to attend for boss 5-7. Again, the raid leaders will try to set up a fair turn over between all people that want to come

3.5 - Of course we want this to be as smooth as possible, we don't want people starting tantrums when they're not taken, we have often 15 people wanting to join a 12 people event and we expect everybody to be mature enough to know they can't come every raid and friendly enough to be happy to give their seat to someone else when they are asked to. Nevertheless, raid leaders are not robots, they can make mistake. If you think you're the victim of an injustice, don't start moaning in the kin caht, send a tell to the raid leaders to have it sorted out. They are sensible persons, they will admit when they made a mistake and take the necessary moves to fix their mistake.

4- Do not refrain from signing up if you think enough people have signed up already Deciding on the final group set up is always the raid leader's responsability. How smart they can be, they can't know you'd like to raid if you don't sign up at all . Even if you know you may not be invited in raid, if you want to come, just sign up to say it. This has to big advantages :
-it helps the raid leaders to set up a fair turnover. If you never sign up you ll never be included in this turnover.
-With the numbers we have in the radix, we could very well have 2 rift groups going every week if enough people are motivated. By not signing up even if you'd wish to come, you sorta kill this possiblity of having two raids.

**CONCLUSION :

Sign up are made to have a smooth raid and events organization, we need them to have viable groups starting on time. As a member your only task is to sign up whenever you're available and like to come. Do not be shy and do not refrain from signing up, let the raid leaders deal with the issues when they arise. Last, we're supposed to be all mature and cool enough to make it smooth and friendly, respect the other members and the raid leaders, just stay cool and everything we ll be fine
